The Department of Petroleum Resources 3h recently played host to the newly elected executive members of Nigerian Association of LPG Marketers (NALPGAM) who were on a courtesy visit to the Department.
The Director DPR represented by the Deputy Director and Head Engineering and Standards Division, Mr. Olumide Adeleke, received the visiting delegation led by the President of the association, Barrister. Nosa Ogieva-Okunbor and thanked them for the initiative of collaborating with DPR in the interest of the LPG of the oil and gas industry and in alignment with government’s aspiration to deepen the use of LPG in Nigeria.
In their presentation to the Department, the President expressed their sincere appreciation to DPR for the support, collaboration and for participating in all of the association’s activities and events. He told the Director that they were in Lagos to seek for improved collaboration from the Department in improving the LPG market and domestic gas supply value chain.
The association amongst other things, made the following appeal to the DPR;
Responding on behalf of the Department, Mr. Adeleke informed the visitors that the DPR would provide a feedback after consultation with its Legal unit on the functionality and economic implication of the extension of the LPG Filling license validity from two years, to four years as proposed.
He also reassured the association that the Department, will continue to ensure that all requirements are met, before the issuance of an LPG Filling Operating license. He however encouraged them to share information with the DPR on any illegal LPG skids activities discovered by members in the course of their operations.
He challenged the delegation to take advantage of the investment opportunity in the construction of privately owned LPG storage facilities across the country, since it has a huge potential for business and will help bridge the logistics gap in the supply of LPG to consumers Nationwide.
